Meet Olivia

Floral Design Studio — Toronto, ON

Hi, I'm Olivia, the florist and founder of Blooms & Botanicals, a small-scale floral studio based in Toronto.

I create thoughtfully composed floral arrangements inspired by what's in bloom and the individual character of each stem. My approach is design-led, with an appreciation for texture, shape, movement, and colour—and how these elements come together to create something that feels intentional yet natural. Whether your style is understated and classic or bold and contemporary, I work closely with each client to understand their vision and create florals that feel personal and true to the occasion.

My path to floristry began with a lifelong interest in horticulture. While at university, I worked part-time at a small plant and flower shop, where I began learning the language of flowers—their Latin names, individual characteristics, growing habits, and needs. I quickly became fascinated by flowers and the endless ways they could be interpreted through design.

Over the past few years, I've worked as an event server, spending much of my time working weddings. At the end of the night, it wasn't uncommon for couples to gift the event staff with the leftover flowers from their special day. I would bring them home, take the arrangements apart, and rebuild them into something entirely my own. What started as playing with flowers slowly became something much more meaningful.

With the encouragement from the people closest to me—and a growing feeling that I should take this passion seriously—I finally decided to go for it. I went on to earn a college diploma from the Canadian Institute of Floral Design, followed by a certificate in Advanced Wedding Techniques. Blooms & Botanicals grew from that leap of faith and a desire to keep learning, experimenting, and creating with flowers.

I'm especially drawn to florals that are bold and expressive—designs that evoke an emotional response, invite curiosity, and challenge conventional ideas of what an arrangement can be. I'm currently exploring structural floral design and have a particular interest in the principles of ikebana. There's something beautiful about its restraint, intention, and relationship with space, and I hope to one day have the opportunity to study under a Master.

I'm always looking at what's growing, what's changing, and what I can do differently with the materials in front of me. That sense of discovery is at the heart of Blooms & Botanicals.
